Windows 7 to launch in October

by on 06-02-2009 03:44 PM

This is a quick post to let the community know that we are on this!

We have their release candidate in house and have tested with it. Microsoft has also done the same using Release 2010. Our plan is to have the Peachtree 2010 SR1 product ready by the end of August / early September. And we are working on a plan for a www.Peachtree.com web page with more details on Windows 7 (much like we did for the pre-Vista launch).

For more information on Windows 7: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/default.aspx

There is also a forum available here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/GettingReadyforWindows7/threads?filter=answered

I am curious... What expectations do you have for Windows 7?

I am NOW using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit and was looking here for some advice with Peachtree. As an OS, I find the new features very helpful, as well as the quicker page transitions. I have different personal systems using XP variations. I was using Vista Home premium 64 bit on THIS notebook before I installed the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.... SO far so good. Let me know here if you want to know more.

I have a new computer with windows 7...and I bought a peachtree complete accounting 2010, it doesn't work, what I can do?

Hi Sasha -

Can you explain a little more about what isn't working? For example, does the product install but you're having problems working in Peachtree?

I have peachtree complete 2008...

Will it work on windows 7......George

by on 11-18-2009 02:40 PM

Hi George -

I appreciate the question. Only Peachtree 2010 SR1 is compatible with Windows 7. Prior releases, such as Peachtree 2008 and Peachtree 2009, will install and run on Windows 7; however, there may be areas of functionality that will not operate as intended. For example, you will not be able to utilize e-mail and PDF functions within older releases. Please refer to the Windows Vista® page for other examples as these would apply to Windows 7 as well. Also note that currently supported releases, up to and including 2009, will be supported on Windows 7 provided the issue is not directly related to the Windows 7 environment.

Have installed Peachtree Pro Accounting 2008 on Windows 7 64bit.  Every feature that I used seems to work except adding a new customer, deleting a customer or changing a customer name.  Cant save any of these functions.  Have not tried to change peachtree compatibility mode yet, Any info on this problem?
by on 12-08-2009 10:48 AM

Hi roybales,

Unfortunately I don't have any additional information. We did not do full testing with prior releases with Windows 7 since we made the decision to support release 2010 SR1. You might try posting this question to the main board to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

I have installed Peachtree Complete Accounting 2010 on HP 32 bit computer running windows 7 professional. It installed fine, but I cannot open any company; the error message "Peachtree cannot be started".  I have tried running it in Vista SP1 mode, and windows xp SP2 mode as well, same problem. I have had 2 techs from Sage work on it for 2 hours each, but they could not figure out how to get it running. What do I do next?

Hi Lutz,

Is your computer connected to the Internet and if so, is your Internet service provider AT&T/Yahoo/SBC?

It's possible that the IP address returned on your computer is classified as a Public address which takes longer to establish communications over as opposed to a Private IP address.

Press the Windows Logo and R keys on your keyboard simultaneously then type CMD in the Run field. Click the OK button and a blank command prompt window appears. Type IPCONFIG /ALL then press the Enter key on your keyboard. If you see that the IPv4 address begins with any numbers between 60 and 80, then you have a Public IP address and will need to modify your modem settings.

Please see Answer ID 21361 for more information on how to resolve this error message.

There is also a possibility that the IPv6 protocol is not totally disabled. Please see Answer ID 21345 for instructions on how to disable this protocol.

I have tried to install Peachtree 6 on a new Hp Slimline Mod: s5220f with Win7. It will not install the files... all I get is a Sage directory then Peachtree dir then the company dir with files and other directories. So without the peachtree.exe & other file in the Prachtree Dir nothing happens... Please help me, my old Computer is dead and I just sold my Business so I have no need for a newer Ver of Peachtree. I just need to close out the year.. Gene

My last post said that I could not install Peachtree 6 on my new Hp Slimline..  well, I have Peachtree 2006 not Peachtree 6..  Thank you for any help you may have.. Gene

by Administrator on 01-22-2010 09:56 AM

Hi Gene,

Because Peachtree 2006 is nearly five years old, it is not compatible with Windows 7. Peachtree 2010, SR1 is designed and tested to work with Windows 7.

You may want to try posting your question in the general Peachtree Accounting forum to see if anyone has a creative suggestion, but Peachtree 2010, SR1 is the only version that we support under Windows 7. Thanks for your question.

Quick note:

PT Quantum 2010 is not working with Windows 7 Pro

Issues:

1. Will not install if you choose 'new' instead of 'upgrade' (ancient old windows' installer issue again)

2. on 64bit, will not restore any company backup

3. on 64bit, will not archive, or will archive, depending. I have no  idea upon what it depends. It's whimsical. One day it will, next day it won't.

4. Don't depend on PT sales staff to let you know about these issues before you buy. All they want is your $3,000+ and *then* they'll tell you... 'next release, next year, will fix it!'. What? Another $3,000 you want out of me? are you nuts?

PS: PT 2010 will NOT work on any dual or quad core PC. It's not supported.

Again, sales department won't tell you this.

I have windows 7 professional on my new vaio. I've been using Peachtree complete since 1982 when we had about 15 3.5 disk. I have upgraded every year until I retired and sold my company. I now have a small service business and I need to use peachtree complete 2009 that I currently have licensed. Will it work ok? I will only be using invoices, quotes, and print functions. The tax issue is handle through my accountant now so I don't need that and won't use it anyway. Thanks for you prompt answer.

I am purchasing a new laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, with XP mode.  I need to know if Peachtree Complete Accounting 2009 (up to 5 user version) will install and run properly with this operating system.  Was also thinking about saving a little $ and just going with Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.  How about that, would Peachtree install and run propertly on that?

I installed peachtree 2011 complete on my windows 7 home version, it did not work, do i need "Professional" for it to work?

This is the error i keep getting: cannot open file C:\peacht~2\company\status.dat

What does this mean?

by Oladiran(anon) on 01-28-2012 10:30 AM
I installed successfully Peachtree 2008 on Windows 7, worked and almost completed my postings with about 95 per cent. Suddenly some features on the Peachtree became blunt while I couldnt neither open old customer or maintain new ones. Some buttons like "OK" refused to click, while some are hidden. Please what do I do.
