Microsoft's much-anticipated new search engine launched two weeks ago. Bing seems to have had a solid start in its quest to gain ground against Google. In its second week, it was reported as the 17th most visited site among the 450,000 tracked by Hitwise.

When asked how Bing is better, a research VP at Gartner (who is in no danger of being recruited by Microsoft Marketing) said, "I think the benefits are subtle. I don't think they jump right out at you when you first start using it. It takes a while to appreciate the difference."

So should you switch? I don't know. I'm still waiting to appreciate the difference. But that's not the point of this post. I simply want to remind you to create a listing for your business in Bing's Local Listing Center.

Start by going to https://ssl.bing.com/listings/ListingCenter.aspx. You'll first fill in your company info to see if a listing already exists. Next, use your Windows Live ID to sign in and create or modify your listing. In addition to your basic information, you can include multiple phone numbers, hours of operation, payment methods, specialties, parking options, a photo, and other details.

The next steps prompt you to select up to six different categories in which to list your business. Make sure you prioritize them correctly, and make the best use of keywords and search terms throughout your listing.

Before you finish, you can review and refine the placement of your business on a map.

Now that you have the practice, go and do the same on Yahoo and Google.
