“Hello, may I please speak with Oprah?”

by Sage Employee AndreaM on 08-03-2009 03:24 PM

According to marketing guru Dan Kennedy, "What others say about you and your product, service, or business is at least 1000% more convincing than what you say, even if you are 1000% more eloquent." Why? Simply put, it’s because we believe other customers over marketing-speak.

So, ever wonder what a celebrity endorsement might do to persuade customers that your business is better than the competition or what an autographed doodad might sell for in a silent auction you’re hosting for a worthy cause? The problem is that most of us can’t pick up the phone and call Oprah’s agent or Tom Clancy’s publicist to find out.

Now you can! I came across www.contactanycelebrity.com recently and wanted to pass this along. Yes, I was skeptical but the CNN endorsement on the home page and what looks like over a hundred testimonials quickly convinced me this is legit. See how it works J

A little more information that I came across this morning from eMarketer (TM)...

Seven in 10 users said they “completely” or “somewhat” trusted brand Websites and consumer opinions posted online—a higher rate than for editorial content, brand sponsorships, and TV, newspaper and magazine ads. The least trusted were new media channels, such as mobile advertising, display ads, video ads and paid search results.

There is also a good chart that shows tactics / media as a % of trustworthiness. What's #1? Click here: http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?R=1007206
