Re: True cost vs. landed cost for Inventory items

Thanks for your response, ShirleyB. That is exactly the work-around we're going to use-- for now.

I just can't believe that a feature that was once standard in Peachtree's apps has now been removed, especially this one given the "age of importing" we currently live in.

I was hoping there was something new for this.

You could create a non stock "Inventory Item" called Land or something like that and add it on

each of your vendor invoices. It would give the freight cost it's own line item on your

invoice and it could be shown as a separate cost on your financial statement if you create a

separate GL acct # too.

True cost vs. landed cost for Inventory items

Recently upgraded from DOS-based Peachtree Classic Accounting to Peachtree 2009 for Manufacturing. I am in need of a function that used to be present in Peachtree software, but now it's not.

Imported items accrue an additional shipping and customs charge, that makes up the landed cost for each item. In PCA, you could enter the FOB cost, and then go into each item and enter the landed (current) cost. This made it easy to pay your vendor, customs, and freight forwarder, not to mention showing true profitability.

Does Peachtree 2009 have this capability? If not, is there a third-party add on?
