It’s a question we’ve likely all considered:  If current national retirement policies remain in place, what will our financial future look like?  It’s a particularly important question for young people who are 40 years away from retirement.

  

Now – a national college contest is challenging teams of college students to find a solution to the nation’s current retirement crisis.  Originated by a group of businesses and a college in Wisconsin, The iOme Challenge asks college students to compete on a national stage with students from major universities across the nation.  A number of colleges and universities like Harvard, Alcorn State, St. Louis University, University of Michigan, Boston College and the U.S. Air Force Academy are competing.

  

By the end of the year, students will submit an essay and a 30-second video that discusses the current retirement system and offers an alternative plan.

  

The winning team will be announced in January and receive $20,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. to present its ideas to policy makers and members of congress.  Four teams will receive honorable mentions, each one being awarded $2,500.
