Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

System currupted somehow during update.

FIT12 was also name as a user formula for State Unemployment.  Calc was for SUTA, but named FIT 12.

Once the incorrectly named user formula was delted, correct deduction was now working.

Took a while, but got it.

Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

Our payroll has been functioning just fine all 2012 year long.  Until last Friday!

Peachtree Premuim 2011, payroll update 2012

As of 12Mar, Peachtree Premium with current payroll did NOT deduct for Fed Withholding.

Looking at Payroll formulas currently blank for Peachtree Maintained.

Looking as available selections, there is not pick for FIT 12.  Does have for 09, 10. 11.

Does this mean we've lost the table for 2012?

How to fix?

Have run the check updates, and system is current without needing any updates.

Also ran the Data Validation.  No errors found.

Why isn't the system finding a 2012 Tax table formula?

How to install the correct table for 2012 tax withholding?

Thanks,

John

Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

Lee,

I have spent much time reviewing all employee records for beginning balances.  I completely agree that this is part of the reasoning.  If this is true and the only reason, why then did my beginning balance from last year throw this warning.  It has similar issues with a benefit account we have for Group Dental.  It does not like to zero at year end.

Yesterday I made a counter entry for the Group Dental in Employee Beginning Balance then that entry seemed incorrect.  I then deleted the entry I had made, which then zeroed the account.  I thought this was bizzare.  So you are saying this is how the system was set up?

Any way I am going to run an Integrity Check again.  and Hope this warning is no longer there.  Thank you for the additional feedback. I hope this information will also help others.  The instructions for an Integrity Check suggest I delete and rekey all checks made in 2012.  Is this required or just suggested?

Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

It's basically the way it was programmed for the Sage Advisor warning to look at the database for the roll over issue.  It sees the employee beginning balances similiar to the way it sees the 2011 balances rolling over as balances into the 2012 year.  The SR Release + Integrity Check corrects the roll over issue, however the message is still being triggered because it sees the beginning balance entries on the employee record.

However, there may be instances where the beginning balances showing in the employee record needs to be there such as adjustments for the 2011 year or new Peachtree users setting up balances for the 2012 payroll year.  This is why we referred the customer above to e-mail pttaxadjust@sage.com so we can determine the best possible resolution.  And to also keep an eye on whether the message might be triggered for different reasons.

Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

Thanks for the information Lee,

Is there something that usually causes this to happen.  Is it from a conversion or someone starting with Peachtree and they entered beginning balances or it anyone?

Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

If the warning message is still appearing after running the Integrity Checks, then it typically means that there are beginning balances reflected on employees (could be inactive one too).  Simply removing the beginning balances should make the warning message go away.

Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

Lee,

What causes this and how is it corrected?

Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

Hi Christy,

If you are still receiving the Warning message, then it is typically a situation where there are beginning balances attached to employee file(s) that it is detecting.  Please send an e-mail to pttaxadjust@sage.com for assistance.

As for your other question regarding the YTD on previously saved payroll transactions, that is working as intended.  The YTD on the payroll stub will reflect the YTD total for the quarter the payroll transaction is created.  So the previous transactions you are selecting and either re-printing or previewing, the YTD that shows will reflect all checks within that quarter.

Re: Payroll Calculation Incorrect

I have looked at our companies User-maintained files, we don't have FIT or SS tax calculations in that area, we only have State Unemployment tax Calculation and Vacation Calculations.   I am at a lose,  I still see no improvement on Payroll Calculation Error message.  I have read many of the Help articles.  However, the solution is not helping.   What else might be lacking or wrong to continue the Error?

I also went to every computer insuring the appropriate updates were installed.  Then did an Integrity Check again. It did not find any errors.  So if it is not finding any errors is there really any errors at all.

Thank you for additional impute.
