Hi Connie,

I am a experienced cpa and cfo that has worked for large to medium sized companies. I am currently interviewing with a family owned conglomerate that uses Peechtree. In my first interview, it became apparent hey prefer to hire someone with Peechtree experience as they have no IT staff and they are having some issues with the server going down that runs Peechtree.

I an very interested in pursuing this position and wonder if you have any advice on how I could become more familiar with Peechtree and possibly trouble shoot there server issue. Thanks.

Jim

I would like to report a very unsatisfactory customer service experience today (Tues 9/22/2009 @9:39 AM PST) Peachtree Tel # 1-800-247-3224. My customer service rep (Jonathon) could barely be heard over excessive background noises which included voices at a very loud volume. I asked Jonathon what all the noise was about and he said a meeting was in progress in close proximity to his work area.

Could I make a suggestion that if meetings are held while a customer service rep is on the phone they are held far enough away from the rep's station that the meeting noise does not impact the customer's call. I could barely hear the rep over the background noise and found the whole experience very distracting.

For a company like Peachtree I am surprised that this elemetary customer service protocol is not observed.

Now more than ever, many small businesses are seeing the importance of increasing customer engagement: keeping lines of communications open, increasing company web presence

I have heard about Peach tree from my husband who needs my help with his many projects to keep the work flow, invoice, accountings etc. But I have not had experience to work on this kind of keeping accounting or keep the data for anyone before.

Although I know how to use computer for my own work.

Do you think it is possible for an inexperience to use Peach tree?

Do you have any manual for a beginner to start and work with?

If I have manual and someone can teach me step by step how to do it I think it would help me make it possible. I like something that is systematic and once I understand I can do it.'

Or Peach tree needs a very experienced person who have background in accounting before to use if not it is impossible.

Thank you hope you can help answer my question.

We’ve all heard people say at one time or another that software companies, Sage included, intentionally make support resources more difficult to find or use just so they can make more money. Even though this is usually said lightheartedly, organizations like us really must keep in mind the frustrations software users face when trying to find relevant (and easily accessible) help.

Hello, Diana75.

Although I'm not aware of the specifics related to your issue I can tell you that we have hundreds of thousands of customers that have been able to upgrade from 2006 to one of our newer releases. Now, I realize that doesn't help your specific situation. As a result, I'm happy to have someone in support contact you again in an effort rectify the problem. I will also make sure that our VP of Support is aware of the case so he can get involved if necessary. Another option is to reach out to our certified consultants for assistance. Sometimes issues like these are environmental (specific to your environment). Those are often times difficult for us to correct via phone support. I know there are many certified consultants that are active on the community. They may have suggestions on how to get you beyond this issue. Regardless, if you would like for me to get tech support involved again please send me an e-mail at connie.certusi@sage.com and I will make this a high priority.

Thanks again for the post.

Connie

Dear ConnieC,

To quote your above blog post, "For instance, you told us that it’s critical for your company to find ways to go above and beyond when servicing your customers; you need to offer more than they expect."

It seems to me that Peachtree needs to start doing that itself. I am still using the obsolete 2006 Peachtree for Distribution because I have 2008 that will not run due to a bug caused directly by a Peachtree 2008 trial version. The system thinks the files are in use by another user and closes the program upon startup. When the bug was first discovered, it took some time for the development team to resolve the issue, create a patch file only available by contacting support, not by a freely available download. This 2008 patch file cannot be located by phone customer support technicians and I was left with instructions to attempt on my own to save all my company files to another location and completely uninstall 2006 and 2008 from my system, including files and folders and reinstall 2008. When I had the opportunity to attempt this large task, it was past the unmentioned 3 days to call back in. I'm still stuck with the obsolete 2006 with it's limited features since obsolescence. In over a year, I have not been able to use 2008 at all and now I was told I had to purchase a support plan in order to talk to a tech again. I wouldn't have even had a problem without the trial version bug. Thanks for a nice software program that no one can help me to use.

Barry - you're right, there are only label templates, but you can easily create an envelope template. Just select the "Customer Labels Continuous" form and click Customize. Select File > Page Setup and set the paper size to Envelope #10 and set orientation to landscape. Rearrange the address field appropriately and save your new form. I couldn't figure out a way to format a form for a printer that feeds envelopes lengthwise, though. Maybe someone else can make a suggestion.

An alternative is to export customer addresses and use Word to print envelopes.

We have been using PT for about a year now and recently upgraded to Q2010 and we love the new features! The Customer Managment improvements are very helpful.

The new workflow tracking is also very helpful to us as we have two locations and this allows those working in our branch office to stay in the loop better with the Status and Notes sections.

Of course, we can always wish for more....and our suggestions are to make the same improvements on the Vendor section where you can see at a glance the history of purchase orders placed, items purchased from vendors and invoices.

Another thing that we find annoying is that we cannot view the entire Item ID in our purchase orders. This makes it difficult when receiving inventory items. Our Item IDs are 12 digits long and many times you cannot view the last 2 or 3 digits. On some forms you can only view about 6 digits. I called support and was told that there really wasn't anything to do about this. This would be a huge help to us if you could address this problem on future upgrades.

Barry - Sounds like you don't have security rights to print customer forms. Do you use a login name to access the company? If so, select Maintain > Users > Set Up Security (or Maintain > User Security). Select your name and click Edit User's Rights. Select the Customers & Sales groups and make sure the Reports; Forms setting is "Full Access," or just set the whole category to Full Access.

Mike: I I went to forms for printing envelopes, but when I clicked on envelope it gave me an error message about not being authorized. I am the admin for this site - sole owner.

Hi Barry,

From within Peachtree, select Reports & Forms > Forms > Customer Labels & Letters. You'll see a selection of templates for different sizes of labels and envelopes. You can also create your own custom form. Press F1 from this screen for more help.
