Tom: I am trying to do a couple of things: 1.) Get a simple list of the balances by account for a given period. So, for example, I can plug in (or select from a drop-down) 10/31/2009 and it will give me the balances by account through the end of or whatever portion of October has been processed. The added goody would be to have two (or three) different companies show on the report side by side. I have already figured out how to get the companies to appear side-by-side on a report, but I have not been able to figure out how to add in the period select. I have been able to create some manual formulas that add together the periods needed to get a total up through October (for example) but they are manual and would have to be changed every time a different period was needed (including adding on new periods). 2.) Once I have the period select, I would definitely be interested in how to also have the drill down of the detail underneath. For right now, however, Just getting the select is kicking me in the butt. I am new to both Crystal Reports and Peachtree. My background is in using AS400 Query and a 3rd party software called Sequel Viewpoint for building reports and such so I'm just getting my feet wet, but am trying to do it at an much faster pace. Is this enough info for you? If you need a sample of what I am talking about, let me know I'll forward to you.... Additionally, there is a Peachtree report called "Chart of Accounts" that gives the options of selecting a period and showing the balances by account. I don't know who created it or if it simply comes with the software....but that is the report that I am using as a check for the Crystal Report I am trying to create.

StephenC is correct and you can not view the design details of standard reports in Peachtree as they are not designed with Crystal Reports. In order to guide you more in designing the report that you want, I will need to know more about the requirements of the report. Do you want the report as of a particular date or the end of a particular period? Do you want to be able to drill down on each GL account and see the supporting transactions for the period? Once you provide more details for the report, I will be able to guide you a little better. Tom A

Tom: Thanks Very much for the help....I'd already taken a look at the help info on the tables....I'm hoping some of the articles will help with the actual linking and relationships between tables and such...I have been trying for two weeks now to build a report similar to the Chart of Accounts report that came with Peachtree. I have succeeded in replicating the general report, but I cannot figure out how to incorporate a date or period selection..... You don't happen to know if there is a way to view the design details of that report, do you? That would actually be the best thing.....

From within Peachtree, select Help, Peachtree Accounting Help from the main menu. On the Contents tab, expand Reference and Legal Notices. Then expand Crystal Reports 2008. Then expand Data Fiels and click on A list of Crystal Reports data (.DAT) files and you will get a list of all the files/tables in the Peachtree database that are available through Crystal as well as the information contained in the particular table. By clicking the link for the table/file, you will be directed to a list of fields in the file, the size of each field and the information contained in that field. Articles in the Peachtree Knowledge Center (make sure you seach by answer ID) that will help you get started with Crystal Reports are (and there may be more you find useful as well): Answer ID: 495 668 8048 8050 8051 8052 8053 20019 20039 20041 20045 23052 25367 Tom A

wb2u, There is not a schema of th database available. The information in the help files for Peachtree regarding Crystal Reports in conjunction with several articles in our Knowledge Center (www.peachtree.com) should be all that you need to get started. The articles in the Knowledge Center discuss how tables are related and some of the fields that you will use to link the tables. Tom A

I there a source for the schema? I've been looking without any luck. Table names and fields are not very intuitive. Same with field to make joins. Thanks for any help. wb2u
